True to the motto “We help helpers”, Germany’s largest distance learning school, ILS in Hamburg, is currently offering free training to people who, among other things, support people who have fled the Ukraine.

The ILS awards 50 scholarships for the distance learning course “Assistance to Refugees and Integration” until the end of May 2022 people involved in helping refugees. The reason for this scholarship campaign is very special: the Klett Group, to which the ILS belongs, celebrates its 125th anniversary. And just like Klett, ILS, as a longtime market leader in distance education, is synonymous with sustainable education. This online training also imparts a wide range of basic knowledge and thus supports all those who currently make such an important contribution to the integration of newcomers.

“All useful people in our country deserve not only the greatest respect, but also concrete support”, underlines Ingo Karsten, director general of the ILS. “As an educational company, we provide support in the way that suits us best: we provide helpers with the know-how so that they are even better able to cope with the various tasks of refugee aid. .”

The course “Refugee and Integration Assistance” was developed with the cooperation of volunteers and experienced specialists in refugee assistance. The information, examples and advice in the study materials come directly from practice – including self-care training. When working with refugees, for example, you risk being overwhelmed. Therefore, this course is not only about how to help others in a professional way, but also about the methods and skills with which helpers can keep an eye on their own strengths and needs.

The training can at your own pace with free time management be completed. The standard study period is 6 months, with everyone free to work on the modules faster. Participants receive feedback from distance teachers with experience helping refugees and can network and exchange ideas with like-minded people in the online study center.

Interested persons can register for the scholarship until the end of May 2022 in order to follow the distance learning course “Help for refugees and integration” free of charge. The only Conditions of participation is that when you register online, you briefly state where and how you are currently helping refugees. The scholarship is awarded to volunteers as well as people employed by an organization in the field of refugee aid.
