The little queen will be cycling at the party in Nevers on Saturday 14 May as part of the national operation May

Mai à vélo festively brings together all cycling initiatives and events in France that will be organized from 1 to 31 May. This is the great moment when all the cycling actors, associations, public institutions, communities, schools, companies and individuals organize events so that the bicycle is used and adopted all year round in France. Meeting with Maria Jebli-Chedeville, national president of the collective Mai à vélo.

How is this operation organised? This year is the 2nd edition. We have eight partners and a great ambassador: Séverine Desbouys, former cyclist (she finished 4th in the world)† She was entrusted with a mission by the government for the Know how to ride a bike program.

What is the strong message? Show in a festive way that the bicycle is there and is gradually taking its place. It may not be released after the month of May. You have to give the taste of the bike. I have been using the bike for ten years. It is a true happiness. It is much less stressful than the car.

Bicycle delivery comes to the streets of Nevers

What observation do you make today about cycling in France? There is still much to do. The average share: we are at 3%; in the Netherlands this is 19%. Intermodal will be the solution. We’re not saying you have to go all-bike. The electrically assisted bicycle is not easy for everyone. The bicycle must be a strong link.

What are your projects? Here is the 2nd edition. We want Mai à vélo to continue. We want to take steps.
