The matches (and bets) that promise to heat up the weekend

THE The weekend is fast approaching and football excitement promises to take over…on Sunday. THE Sports Minute introduces you to the six games that will heat up the next few days across Europe and in which you can place your bets on Betclic.

Premier League: Arsenal-Everton (May 22, 4:00 p.m.)

The top tier of English football ends on Sunday with the final round, and there is still much to decide. The duel between Arsenal and Everton is the biggest game of the last day.

Both teams must win as they are always fighting for their respective goals. Arsenal are still dreaming of a Champions League top-four spot but are dependent on Tottenham, while Everton are in the fight for permanence and need points to escape relegation.

The odds do reflect Arsenal’s favoritism, which however comes from back-to-back defeats. A victory for Mikel Arteta’s team is worth 1.46, while a draw is valued at 4.17. On the other hand, if Everton, the team where the Portuguese André Gomes plays, wins, the odds are 5.25.

Premier League: Manchester City-Aston Villa (May 22, 4 p.m.)

Speaking of decisions, Manchester City also have an important game in the Premier League final round and it’s up to themselves to be… champions.

The cityzens even slipped in the last match, against West Ham, and that’s why they want to take their revenge and triumph to seal the conquest of the title. On the other side will be Aston Villa, a team coached by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who have failed to win in two straight games.

Manchester City are the heavy favourites, not least because the English title is on the line, and a victory for the side of Bernardo Silva, João Cancelo and Rúben Dias nets 1.12. A draw is worth 6.40, while a possible victory for Aston Villa has odds… of 14.

Premier League: Liverpool-Wolverhampton (May 22, 4 p.m.)

Liverpool still have little hope of winning the title, but for that they will have to beat Wolverhampton and wait for a surprise from Aston Villa at Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp’s team are on an incredible winning streak and will face a Wolverhampton stuffed with Portuguese but in sharp decline (have not won for over a month).

The odds are a reflection of the favoritism of Diogo Jota’s team and the company. A Liverpool win has odds of 1.15, a draw is worth 6.10 and a Wolves win has odds of 12.25.

Serie A: Inter-Sampdoria (May 22, 5 p.m.)

As in England, the title fight in Italy is only played out on the final day and rivals AC Milan and Inter are separated by just two points. Inter must therefore beat Sampdoria and hope that AC Milan is defeated.

Simone Inzaghi’s team, which this season has already won the Coppa Italia, will host Sampdoria on Sunday afternoon, a team which has already ensured its permanence and which has nothing at stake in this last round of Serie A.

For the reasons described above, the odds presented for this match in Milan are explained. A win for Inter is worth 1.09, a draw has odds of 7.35 and a win for Sampdoria is worth 14.75.

Serie A: Sassuolo-AC Milan (May 22, 5:00 p.m.)

On the same Saturday afternoon, and at the same time, AC Milan travel to Sassuolo and have a much more complicated mission to maintain their lead and finally celebrate the Italian title after 11 years away.

The team of Rafael Leão, a Portuguese player who has been one of the great figures of the season in Italy, is coming off a series of five consecutive victories and has only to win or draw to avoid surprises from last minute. However, on the other side there will be a Sassuolo who does not want to join the party and who will try to say goodbye to the season with a victory.

The odds reflect the difficulty level for AC Milan well. A win for the current Serie A leader pays 1.39, while a draw has odds of 4.50. On the other hand, a win for Sassuolo is worth 5.50.

Portuguese Cup: FC Porto-Tondela (May 22, 5:15 p.m.)

Sunday afternoon will also see the final match of the 2021/22 Portuguese football season. Champions FC Porto will face recently relegated Tondela in the Portuguese Cup final.

It is clear that the dragons are the natural favorites for this final of the queen competition, especially since Sérgio Conceição’s desire goes through the famous ‘double’. However, Tondela, who saw his descent into Ligue II confirmed last Saturday, promises to leave everything on the pitch to Jamor to be able to collect an unprecedented trophy in its history.

A win for FC Porto is worth 1.19, a draw is worth 6.30 and a win for Tondela has odds of 12.
