On May 19, 2022, after a 2-year break, the annual presentation of the famous Burgenland vineyards took place in Esterházy Palace.
Eisenstadt (OTS) – More than 500 guests – trade visitors, wine lovers and friends of the RWB – came to Esterházy Palace to experience the wonderful ambience of the state rooms, chat with winemakers and taste Burgenland wine. A wide selection of current vintages from the forge of famous Burgenland wineries was presented. Variety of Burgenland wine at the highest level.
The renowned Burgenland vineyards unite vineyards from all Burgenland wine regions. 12 winegrowers who follow their own path by rethinking and anticipating, pioneering companies, ambassadors of Burgenland viticulture – attached to their origin, with a clear commitment to natural viticulture, diversity, craftsmanship and individuality. The RWB cellars produce wines of unmistakable style, which carry the unique character of the soil, the variety and the people behind the wines. They are, so to speak, the essence of Burgenland’s diversity.
During the official reception, the emphasis was placed on biodiversity, which is at the heart of the commitment of the group of winegrowers from Burgenland. The actions of the RWB winegrowers are characterized by the preservation of biodiversity and resources as well as by a reasoned management of nature and soils. An increasingly “cleared” landscape is counteracted by a variety of flowers thanks to the greening of the vines, creating an important food source for beneficial insects and bugs. The creation, planting and maintenance of hedges and trees create a living space and a refuge for animals and birds. The complete renouncement of insecticides and herbicides goes without saying. DI Johannes Ehrenfeldner, director of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park, spoke in this context about the similarities and overlaps between nature conservation and sustainable management and viticulture.
Then Federal Councilor Mag. Sandra Gerdenitsch and President of the Burgenland Chamber of Agriculture Abg.z.NR DI Nikolaus Berlakovich paid tribute to the commitment and contribution of renowned Burgenland vineyards to the development of the Burgenland wine industry and the Austria.
It is an important concern of renowned Burgenland wineries to promote the education of wine professionals. The RWB Group wants to bring together future multipliers and international Burgenland wine experts, in line with the goal of refining the quality profile of Burgenland wine and increasing the awareness and reputation of Burgenland wine internationally. Renowned Burgenland Wineries, in collaboration with Raiffeisenlandesbank Burgenland, therefore awards an annual scholarship of EUR 1,000.00 to an international student of one of the world’s most renowned wine training courses, the “WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits” at the Wine Academy Austria. RWB President Kurt Feiler, together with Dr. Josef Schuller MW, Managing Director of the Austrian Wine Academy, presented the RWB Scholarship to this year’s scholarship holder Chan Tsz Kit from Hong Kong.
The RWB winegrowers do not only see themselves as responsible for the natural and cultural landscape, the preservation of soil resources and biodiversity. They are also socially involved. One of the goals of the Burgenland Winegrowers’ Association is to support social projects and institutions in Burgenland. The total income from this year’s annual presentation will benefit the Pöttsching children’s village.
The 2 special editions from the renowned Burgenland wineries were also presented – the “Diversity RWB” wine package and the special “Best of Burgenland” edition in the wooden box with the top wines from the 12 RWB wineries.
