The aim is to support people “who have already done something good”, explains Markus Steinhoff, managing director of the PFH, during the presentation of the project. According to spokesperson Gudrun Röhling, the PFH wants to use the scholarship to challenge and support young people from the region and thus also give them the opportunity to stay here in southern Lower Saxony. Opportunities are provided by the HKS Sicherheitssysteme Hardegsen, the Jacobi-Tonwerke from Bilshausen, the Göttinger Tageblatt and the PFH. The four places are to be allocated for courses that can be taken on site at the PFH. Orthobionics is an exception.
Promoting the southern region of Lower Saxony
“When PFH President Frank Albe approached us and expressed the wish to set up such a scholarship, I did not hesitate and said yes”, explains Heiko Keilholz, CEO of HKS. Such a scholarship is a good thing to promote Göttingen and the region. HKS is connected to the region as well as to the PFH. Anna-Lena and Marie-Luise Keilholz, also active in the management of HKS, both studied at university.

Lucas and Max Jacobi also studied at the PFH. Both are now active in the management of the Jacobi/Walther company. It’s a “nice idea to contribute to the strengthening of small and medium-sized enterprises”, believes Max Jacobi. Because scholarship recipients must also be able to maintain close contact with their supporters, meetings with sponsors are planned, perhaps internships. The young people of the region must not only be well trained, but also be kept here. “We have to deal with it,” adds Keilholz. According to Frerk Schenker, editor-in-chief of the Tageblatt, each scholarship holder must have a main contact, preferably a company.
Opportunity scholarship as a flagship project
“We didn’t have to think too long about whether we wanted to participate in the random exchange,” Schenker explains. Arousing people’s interest in southern Lower Saxony is also part of the work of the editorial team. He thinks it’s fair that the sponsors are medium-sized companies. Maybe the scholarship could become some kind of flagship project. PFH president Albe said new opportunities could be added in 2023. Some companies promised to be there soon.
Anyone who works on a voluntary basis or is involved in social projects can apply at pfh.de/angebote School grades are not relevant, but a valid university entrance qualification is required. Applicants must submit their report card, resume, and a short motivational video online.
