The first batch of 2022 personal income tax (IRPF) refund – base year 2021 – has already been released at the end of May 2022 and according to the schedule released by the Federal Revenue on the next batch will be delivered at the end of June. But after all, how do you know if you have something to receive or even when you will receive it?

3 million taxpayers have already received

The first tranche of bank credit took place on May 31. On this occasion, 3,383,969 taxpayers recovered the sums they had overpaid to the Federal Revenue Service throughout the year 2021. According to the federal government, this payment corresponded to a total amount of 6.3 billion dollars. R$.

All this amount was intended for taxpayers who had legal priority, with 226,934 people aged over 80, 2,305,412 between 60 and 79, 149,016 taxpayers with a physical or mental disability or a serious illness and 702,607 whose main source of income is education. .

The next group will receive June 30 (see schedule below). A few days before the publication of the batch values, the tax authorities always publish the queries so that citizens can access the information. It should also be remembered that in general, those who submitted the declaration first tend to receive the refund amount in the first batches.

How to check the refund?

To find out if the refund is available, the taxpayer must access the Revenue page on the internet, click on “My income tax” then in “Refund by check”.

The page outlines service delivery guidelines and channels, enabling a simplified consultation or complete consultation the status of the declaration, by means of the processing extract, accessible in the e-CAC.

If outstanding issues are identified in the return, the taxpayer can rectify the document, correcting any erroneous information.

The tax office also offers an application for tablets and smartphones which allows you to directly consult information on the release of IRPF refunds and the registration status of a CPF registration.

How is payment made?

Reimbursement is made directly to the bank account indicated in the income tax return. If, for any reason, the credit is not made – for example, the informed account has been deactivated – the amounts will be available for reimbursement for up to one year at Banco do Brasil.

In this case, the citizen can simply and quickly reschedule the credit of the amounts through the BB portal, or by calling the BB relations center through the telephone numbers 4004-0001 (capitals), 0800-729-0001 (other places) and 0800 -729-0088 (special phone exclusively for the hearing impaired).

If the taxpayer does not repay the amount of their refund within one year, they must reapply for payment.

This year it will also be possible to receive the income tax refund by PIX, provided that the PIX key is the CPF of the declaration holder.

It is important to note that it will not be possible to enter a PIX key other than the CPF. That is, emails, telephones or random keys cannot be used to receive tax refunds and the date and credit order followed the priorities established by law.

It will also be possible to pay with PIX the DARF issued by the income tax program/application when there is tax payable. The DARF will be issued with the QR Code, facilitating payment.

The reimbursement of Personal Income Tax (IRPF), for the year 2022, calendar year 2021, will be made in 5 installments, from May to September 2022. See the dates below:
