Dare Odumade (pictured) is a Nigerian tech entrepreneur and innovator. He received a bachelor’s degree in geology in 2013 from the University of Ibadan and is chairman and CEO of Chekkit Technologies Corp. The technology company specializes in protecting consumers by verifying the authenticity of purchased products.
Launched in 2018, the start-up, co-founded with Tosin Adelowo and Samuel Ukhueleigbe, offers a mobile application for monitoring the production chain and distribution of food and medical products based on blockchain and strategically targeting the consumer and pharmaceutical industries. “Chekkit has developed blockchain-powered unique identity technology for each product so that original manufacturers, marketing executives and brand owners can record the history and track their products’ journey from production to customer from the last milewrites Dare Odumade on his LinkedIn account.
Through a mobile application, Chekkit Technologies Corp. allows consumers to authenticate the products they purchase by scanning the unique QR code the company previously developed for its customers and pasted on their products and merchandise. Through this solution, manufacturers also get information about the purchase history of their products, quality complaints that consumers can report.
Useful data for the entire production and distribution chain that manufacturers can use to identify cases of counterfeiting of their products and put an end to them quickly enough. In September 2022, Chekkit Technologies Corp was selected from thirty start-ups to benefit from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Invest in Innovation (i3) program, the outcome of which was a check for $50,000.
Dare Odumade, educated in entrepreneurship at the Melwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology in 2017, had an entrepreneurial tech streak long before Chekkit Technologies Corp. In 2010 and 2015, respectively, he founded the social network StrictlyUI and the music streaming platform Sharebunk App, which are now closed.
Dare Odumade has also worked for several private companies and also in the public service. From 2013 to the end of 2014, he was operational director of the energy company Cannes Energy Nig. Ltd in Lagos, site manager for the construction and public works company Geei Designs and Constructions Nig. From September 2014 to July 2015, he worked as a geophysicist at the Benue State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency.
Multi-award winning Dare Odumade was named IT Guru for StrictlyUI in 2012. In 2019, he received the award for the most innovative and best digital solution in Nigeria in the health sector at the United Nations World Summit Awards for Chekkit. This recognition allowed him to forge partnerships with big names in technology such as Cisco, Merck GmbH, Microsoft, Facebook.
